—— Not too stoked WeStoleIt.com takes my photos (like this of Dirk Mai and Kennedy Brock) and posts them without any photo credit or tags. I’ve seen Dirk Mai’s work used to promote this blog-site countless times with tens of thousands of notes; can I ask who benefits from his hard work if his name’s nowhere to be found and the photo links back to WeHeartIt? I ask that our names be typed into the tags section. (thats it)
Why not contact photographers before-hand, describe what a large scale audience you have (believe it or not we read our messages), and declare you’re promoting our work? Imagine if big name photographers began promoting your site because you contacted them about their work on your front page, understand? Its mutually beneficial if all of us are seeking you out to promote us; rather than irate you used us solely to generate exposure for your site.
You could ask what’s the difference between a fan re-blogging without tags, and WeHeartIt? The fan isn’t capitalizing off our work.
Changing this by taking 1 extra minute to give talented and hard working photographers credit isn’t asking much, even though you’ll probably continue using the people unknowingly paying for your WeHeartIt.com domain name.
PHOTOGRAPHERS//EVERYONE SPREAD THE WORD PLEASE.
